Public Liability Insurance (PLI) is a requirement in Australia for all artists and others engaged in events and public activities. PLI offers protection should you be liable for injury or property damage while undertaking activities in public spaces. We strongly recommend you have PLI cover. Merri-bek City Council has limited capacity to offer PLI cover to artists, participants and stallholders we engage in our activities. Accessing this cover is strictly limited to:
Artists, musicians and others programmed by Merri-bek City Council for a festival or event in a venue or space managed by Merri-bek City Council.
Roving or street performers programmed by Merri-bek City Council for a festival or event in a venue or space managed by Merri-bek City Council.
Community stallholders invited by Merri-bek City Council to participate in a Merri-bek City Council festival or event.
If you are one of the above and are not able to provide us with a valid Public Liability Certificate of Currency you can apply to be covered with the form below. Applicants will be assessed on having a genuine need. We prioritise people who live and/or work in Merri-bek as well as being an emerging or first-time artist, participant or stallholder. Once our annual allocation is exhausted we will no longer extend this service.
Venues and artists delivering their own shows in a venue they manage, cannot apply for this cover.
